SUGAR BOWL SCREENS “THE DONNER PARTY” JANUARY 17th, SPECIAL APPEARANCE FROM FILM’S DIRECTOR AND CAST MEMBERS
(Donner Summit, CA) – Sugar Bowl’s Judah Lodge will host a special screening of the film “The Donner Party” on Sunday, January 17th at 7:00pm. The screening will include a special introduction by the film’s director T.J. Martin, as well as a post-movie question and answer session with several of the film’s cast members. Tickets are $10 at the door, with a full bar and concessions open for the evening event.
Filmed in part atop Tahoe’s Donner Summit in 2007, the movie depicts the tragic tale of the infamous group of Sierra travelers, with critically acclaimed performances by Mark Boone, Christian Kane, Crispin Glover and Michele Santopietro. Originally titled “The Forlorn”, the movie applies stunning cinematography to rather dark subject matter, which earned the film an R rating from the Motion Picture Association of America. “During the westward expansion of the 1840’s”, Director T.J. Martin writes, “a group of California bound emigrants, known today as the Donner Party, were trapped in the high Sierra Nevada Mountains by the heavy snowfall of an early winter. When food supplies run low, tempers flare between William Eddy (Clayne Crawford) and his employer William Foster (Crispin Glover) over how the remaining meat should be divided. When Charles Stanton (Christian Kane) returns with news of food supplies stockpiled along the trail leading to Sutter Fort, the decision is made to form a small group to reach California on snowshoes. After becoming lost in the mountains and out of food, they must resort to doing the unthinkable to survive.”
Focusing on this survival in the face of relentless nature and subsequent moral dilemmas, the film has earned high marks for engaging performances and a captivating story. More psychological thriller than horror, The Donner Party proved to be a fan favorite last year at the Austin Film Festival.

Afternoon Everyone! It's been quite a busy day over on the ACK boards to say the least. Mr. Bob Ezrin stopped by and left us news on his latest project, Christian's album:
Bob Ezrin: Hey there Kaniacs. I just discovered this site. Very cool - so I thought I'd drop in and let you know that Kane and I finished mixing yesterday and the stuff sounds amazing. He's singing better than ever and the material is awesome. Some songs you may already know. Some you won't. But even the familiar ones have been rerecorded and (I like to think) improved enormously. Anyway...you'll start hearing stuff pretty soon and I can't wait to see what you think about it. After all, nobody knows Kane better than his true fans. I'll check back here in awhile after we've started to post music. In the meanwhile - happy new year to all! B ....read more here
It is really good to hear this album is making progress on making a debut!! I will post more when we know more, so please keep checking back.

Hey Guys... Happy New Year! I can not believe it is 2010 already, dayum time is going by too freakin' fast. I really hope everyone is blessed and happy in this brand new year. I want the thank everyone for a wonderful 2009 online, all the staffers, regular Kaniacs, even the flies on the wall. You truly are a great blessing to me, and I love y'all to pieces. Good Sunday Morning everyone from COLD Florida, hahaha... yeah, I know two words that don't go together usually. I am at my daddy's for Christmas, and loving every minute of it. Sorry I forgot to post before I left Thursday night. There will be no huge updates until after I get back, probably December 27th or so, and my internet will be very limited as I am trying to spend quality time with my family.
I want to thank those who've already entered the Her Minor Thing contest, I am very happy to have so many entries this early!! There are 16 people who've sent in their answers. Good luck and remember the contest closes January 8th.

Hello Everyone... Just wanted to make a quick post about tomorrow night's chatroom gathering. The private room is now set up and working. If you are already a member of the boards, please contact me either by private message there, or contact me here on the site that you would like to be added to the list of accepted into the chatroom. If you have not registered yet, and want to attend, then please first register and contact me afterward that you want to be there. The chat begins at 8PM EST and Debra will be with us for about an hour. Once she leaves, the private room will close and the chat will move back to the public chatroom for our usual Saturday night gathering at 9PM EST. I really hope you make plans to attend this very special event.
